Agnes Pauline Summers of Dover DE departed this life on May 4, 2017. She was 71. She was born on September 25, 1945, in Millington MD. She attended Garnet High School in Chestertown Maryland.
Agnes known to friends and family as Pauline moved to Delaware in the late sixties. Pauline worked at Playtex International for 38 years and retired in 2004. Pauline also worked at Value City and Walgreens part time.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior Jesus many years ago and was in good standing under the leadership of Rev. R.W. Coleman at Mount Zion AME Church of Dover DE. She was a faithful member of the Lay Organization, Stewardess Board and YPD Advisor.
A few of her favorite past time was shopping and traveling around the world. She loved shopping with her daughter at JC Penny’s, Boscov’s, Burlington Coat Factory, and going on shopping trips to New York just to name a few. She was always looking out for other people and wanting to do and give to them regardless of what it was.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents James Thomas, Pauline and Howard Gowens, along with both maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law.
Cherishing fond memories of Pauline is her husband of 33 years James Summers of Dover DE; daughter, Marlene (Ivan) P. Shockley Jr. of Lincoln DE; grandsons, Ivan P. Shockley III (Shenequa Hayes) of Dover DE and Jaleel Shockley of Lincoln DE; great-grandson Ivan P. Shockley IV of Dover DE; brothers, Bruce (Priscilla) Gowens of Dover DE and Howard (Shantae) Gowens of Greensboro NC; sister-in-laws, Debra (Fred) Townes of Felton DE and Carolyn (Julius) Marable of New York; brother-in-laws, Paul Harris of Felton DE, Gregory Summers of Bowers Beach DE, Allen Summers of Milford DE; special friends Joyce King, Betty Murray and a very faithful class leader Connie Guy that she loved like a daughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, church family and friends.
